I've become more interested in poetry recently. Such a wonderful way to express yourself artistically.  You can write about past experiences, dreams you may have for your future, or write about the feelings you're having right now, anything you want.  When I was in high school I enjoyed writing poems but lost that as I got older and life got busy.  But we tend to reflect more I suppose as time goes on, and its healthy to get those feelings out. I encourage you to do something that lets you express yourself and how you're feeling, whether it be journaling, blogging, writing, new hobbies, counseling, whatever.
One of Oprah's favorite poems was Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou. I can see why she loved it so much, very powerful.  See it below.

Phenomenal Woman
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman

Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
’Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I'd like to share a poem that I wrote a few weeks after my Mother passed away.  Now, don't expect the level of poetry as you just read in Ms. Angelou's poem. I'm merely an amateur at the art of poetry writing, but a poet all the same. :)

By Laura Garcia Kakar
I heard her today.
Her voice was clear.
"Vamanos, mija!"
And her laugh I could hear, but I turned to reply
And nothing.

I saw her in a dream.
She whispered, "I'm with you",
And hugged me close.
And I awoke wanting more of her embrace,
But nothing.

I smelled her scent in the air today.
It filled my eyes with tears.
I know only time can keep us apart.
But she is near, she is always with me.

Thanks, readers for your support and always looking forward to tomorrow.

Lots of hugs and love,
